TECHNICAL INFORMATION

How to choose appropriate Hull Cell

In this section, let us introduce necessary equipment for those who plan to start Hull Cell test, or already own Hull Cell and plan to try the other bath types.

1. Basic construction of Hull Cell test equipment

Since Hull Cell test is a kind of electro-deposition test, necessary equipment are basically the same as normal electroplating equipment. Differences are only type of the tank (Hull Cell) and dedicated electrodes (anode and cathode for Hull Cell) .

Heater and agitation may be necessary depending on the type of plating bath. To determine necessary equipment, please refer to plating condition and/or table in the next section.

  • Rectifier (power supply) and lead wires
  • Hull Cell (tank)
  • Anode
  • Cathode
  • Heater for Hull Cell
  • Thermostat
  • Air pump
  • Cathode rocker
  • Stirrer

For more details regarding tanks and electrodes, please see links below.

2. Construction of equipment based on types of plating

Recommended Hull Cell tank and electrodes defer based on the type of plating bath. Regarding equipment other than power supply, please refer to each section.

Note: to use heater(s), thermostat must be combined.
